This webinar introduces the suicide prevention evidence-based practice initiative to core providers in anticipation of new DBHDD policy in FY 2014 requiring use of the AIM tools. A.I.M. stands for Screening (Assessment), Intervention, and Monitoring. Screening is carried out by using the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale; Intervention is carried out using the Suicide Safety Plan brief intervention developed by Drs. Stanley and Brown; and Monitoring is carried out through the “three question” telephone intervention coupled with the safety plan. The overview will contain goals and objectives of the project, new information on best practices in suicide prevention and the tools that will be mandated into policy. Also discussed will be the training time line for implementing the use of the tools and best practices related to when to use the tools. Time for questions and answers will be allocated at the end of each webinar. In FY 14 this webinar is open to DBHDD core providers, DBHDD partners (such as the Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS), Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC), State and Local School Staff), and DBHDD Regional and State staff.
